Flowerful DIY

So your Bear's Blooms bouquet has arrived, you have enjoyed it, but now it’s starting to look a little past its best, what's next? We encourage our customers to get crafty with leftover stems from their bouquets. Not only is it fun to try out something new, it is another wonderful way to avoid waste! Keep reading to find how to do everything from drying your flowers to transforming your shower into an at-home spa with a handful of eucalyptus.

Create Your Own Spa With Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is a beautiful stand-out stem in any bouquet, the fragrant fresh and earthy scent it has makes it a customer favourite. One of our suggestions is using a handful of eucalyptus left over from one of our Bear's Picks or -if you want to get a whole bunch - Eucalyptus Boxes and hanging it up in the shower! Are you ready to create your at-home spa?

Instructions:
1. Pull any eucalyptus stems/ branches out of your bouquet.
2. Tie your eucalyptus stems together with a piece of string.
3. Hang the bunch near your shower head, ensuring that it isn’t in the direct flow of water.
4. You can replace the bunch once the eucalyptus smell has gone.
5. Enjoy!

Flower Drying 101

Welcome to your flower drying guide! To get started, you need to know that not all stems dry as well as others. Our florists have tried and tested many stems but found that roses and carnations work the best! Once you have dried your flowers there are countless ways to enjoy them; build a dried flower bouquet to display, turn them into potpourri or even include them as an extra bit of decoration in gift wrapping.

Instructions
1. Pick out the stems that you want to dry from your bouquet, strip any extra leaves off and cut down the stems.
2. Hang flowers up individually upside down with twine or unflavoured dental floss.
3. Ensure that you are drying them in a space that is dark, dry and has good circulation. Just remember that your flowers will lose colour if they get too much sunlight.
4. Leave the flowers for a few weeks until they are completely dried.
5. Enjoy your lovely dried Bear's Blooms flowers!

Make Scentsational Homemade Rose Potpourri

Now that you're an expert at drying flowers, it's time to get even more crafty! We love using dried flowers to make potpourri, it's such a lovely addition to any home and is so easy to make. You'll be wondering why you ever bought it! You can use as many or as few roses as you want to make this.

Instructions:
1. Add your chosen amount of dried rose petals to a glass jar (we tend to use the petals from half a dozen roses).
2. Add spices like cinnamon, cloves or even dried rosemary and lavender to the jar.
3. Close the glass jar and gently shake it around for a minute or so.
4. Keep the container in a warm, dry spot for a day.
5. Transfer your potpourri from the glass jar to wherever you would like to display it!
